This treatment is sometimes used, mainly in cases where symptoms are severe and not helped by other treatments. It is done using a series of injections of the allergen causing the rhinitis, in increasing quantities. The idea is that your immune system will become desensitised to the allergen. This means that the allergic response that your body mounts when it is exposed to the allergen in the future is reduced, so improving your symptoms. Another technique is being developed which involves placing the allergen under the tongue. However, this may not yet be widely available.

There may, however, be subsets of patients more likely to experience a benefit from vestibulectomy surgery. Patients with secondary dyspareunia have greater odds of improvement compared with patients with primary dyspareunia; those with constant pain in addition to dyspareunia are less likely to achieve pain reduction after surgery (15). Vestibuloplasty (a procedure that involves incising the distal perimeter of the vulvar vestibule, undermining the vestibule, and securing it back in place after removal of only the underlying submucosal minor vestibular glands) is reported to be ineffective (14). There are many features that aren’t apparent at first sight: ISESteroids for example adds persistent command line history, so next time you launch ISE (with ISESteroids), your old commands are still there, and you can use arrow keys to navigate to previous commands, or enter ‘#’ followed by any keyword, then TAB-complete through your command line history. History persistence even works with multiple ISE instances open, and across open tabs. When you rename a tab, the history list is bound to that name, so if you open a tab with that name again later, it will load its own unique command history list.

Steve,
I’ve been coughing for 8 years…….that’s right….8 years. I cough summer, winter spring and fall. I’ve been to my family doctor, allergist, an ear nose and throat doctor…..to mention a few. I’ve had chest xrays. an endoscopy ,cat scan of the chest and throat and extensive blood had the vents in my house professionally cameras up my nose and down my throat. I won’t even begin to list all the medications I’ve been on. Believe it or not, I’m quite healthy and active ( I’m in my mid seventies) I feel that if my cough is so bad, I should be dead by now…..but I’m still kicking and coughing.
